Our Privacy Commitment

Vigile is built on a fundamental principle: your data belongs to you. We've designed our app from the ground up to protect your privacy while still providing powerful cognitive protection features.

Information We Don't Collect

Let's start with what we don't do:

• We don't read your content — We never see what you're reading, watching, or browsing
• We don't track your location — Your whereabouts are none of our business
• We don't collect browsing history — What sites you visit stays on your device
• We don't access your messages — Your communications are private
• We don't sell data — We have no data to sell
• We don't show ads — Our business model is subscriptions, not surveillance

On-Device Processing

All of Vigile's analysis happens locally on your device using Apple's CoreML framework. This means:

• Manipulation detection runs entirely on your iPhone
• Heart rate correlation (if enabled) processes data locally
• Behavioral pattern analysis stays on your device
• Your content never leaves your phone for analysis

Information We May Collect

Account Information (Optional)

If you create an account for Family features or subscription management:

• Email address
• Name (if provided)
• Subscription status

Anonymized Analytics (Optional)

With your consent, we may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app:

• Which features are most used
• App crash reports
• General performance metrics

This data contains no personal information and cannot be linked back to you.

Family Sharing

If you use Family features, the following is shared between family members:

• Threat counts by category (e.g., "12 dark patterns detected")
• App names with highest threat counts
• Protection level settings

We do not share: Actual content viewed, specific URLs visited, message contents, or detailed usage logs.

HealthKit Data

If you enable Apple Watch integration:

• Heart rate data is read from HealthKit
• This data is processed entirely on your device
• We never transmit health data to any server
• You can disable this feature at any time

Screen Time Data

If you grant Screen Time permissions:

• We read app usage durations to detect doom-scrolling patterns
• This data stays on your device
• We don't see which specific content you viewed within apps

Data Storage

Your data is stored:

• On Device: All detection data, reports, and settings are stored locally
• iCloud (Optional): If you enable iCloud sync, data is encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud account — we cannot access it

Data Retention

• Detection history: Stored locally for 90 days, then automatically deleted
• Weekly reports: Kept for 1 year on device
• Account data: Retained until you delete your account

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Export: Download all your data at any time from Settings
• Delete: Permanently erase all data with one tap
• Opt-out: Disable any data collection features individually

Children's Privacy

Vigile's family features are designed with children's privacy in mind:

• Parents see threat summaries, not content
• Children have transparency — they see what parents see
• No hidden monitoring or surveillance
• Age-appropriate protection levels

Third-Party Services

Vigile uses the following third-party services:

• Apple App Store: For app distribution and subscription processing
• Apple CloudKit: For optional family data sync (encrypted, in your iCloud)

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Security

We protect your data through:

• On-device processing (data never leaves your phone)
• iOS keychain for sensitive credentials
• End-to-end encryption for any synced data
• Regular security audits

Changes to This Policy

We'll notify you of any significant changes to this privacy policy through:

• In-app notification
• Email (if you have an account)
• Update on this page
